Free tickets for the first day of BPIHT for amateur riders
Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (13th-17th September) is famous for its support of “grassroots” riders and has led the way in giving amateur competitors the chance to ride alongside their sporting heroes.
It is therefore offering free tickets for the first day of the event (Wednesday, 13th September) to riders who compete in British Eventing classes at BE80, BE90 and BE100 level. This will enable them to watch the Dodson & Horrell-sponsored Eventer Challenge classes that day – as well as the CCI3* dressage.
This year Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials is also hosting a new 90cm Eventer Challenge as well as its extremely popular 100cm class, and riding club and Pony Club team challenges.
Event Director Mandy Hervieu said: “Our 100cm Eventer Challenge class has now been running for eight years and there are always many more entries than we can accommodate so, after considerable lobbying by competitors, we have decided to offer an Eventer Challenge at 90cm level as well.
“We hope that being able to watch these classes for free on the Wednesday of the event will give grassroots competitors a better understanding of what an Eventer Challenge class involves and inspire them to compete at Blenheim themselves in the future.”
Both the 90cm and 100cm Eventer Challenges will take place over a mixture of showjumps and cross-country fences in a Derby-style competition.
To qualify for the Eventer Challenge classes, combinations must have completed a minimum of two BE90 or BE100 competitions and achieve a minimum of six foundation points at the relevant level enter between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. Each rider is restricted to entering one of the two classes. To find out more about this competition and to enter, click here.
